Welcome to the CTSS blog

Welcome to the first posting on this CTSS website space which we dedicate to passing on positive information and energy about songs and the business of songwriting. We take it that if you’ve logged on, it’s because you are either a songwriter or an aspiring songwriter. Isn’t it strange that we songwriters, people compelled to put their ideas and emotions out there for the world to hear, tend to work in isolation?

That said, since starting the CTSS about three years ago, we have connected with about 150 local writers many of whom we know will remain lifelong friends.  Songwriters work at the vulnerable end of the spectrum, that place where hype, image and what’s trendy doesn’t matter that much. We love great songs, old ones and new ones, and we love writers that write from the heart. We care about their ideas, words, notes and the spaces in between.

Keith Richards:

In a way you want to stretch yourself into other people’s hearts. You want to plant yourself there, or at least get a resonance, where other people become a bigger instrument than the one you’re playing. It becomes almost an obsession to touch other people. To write a song that is remembered and taken to heart is a connection. A touching of bases. A thread that runs through all of us. A stab to the heart.

We’d love to touch base with you regularly through this space.

Write songs that matter and enjoy the process.
